Mardiyah Mehmood
Mardiyah Mehmood is a UK based artist who focuses on art within the Islamic tradition. Her love for the traditional arts and geometry, in particular, began when she attended short courses at the Prince's Foundation School of Traditional Arts in London.
Mardiyah then visited Istanbul in 2018 to study Islamic calligraphy with master calligrapher Efdalüddin Kılıç, with whom she continues to study. Her exploration of colour harmony within the natural world led her to begin using pigments sourced from the earth to make her watercolour paints.
