Nurdan Akyildiz

Istanbul born Nurdan Akyildiz relocated to Cambridge, UK to further her studies in fine arts. Nurdan has trained under various Turkish masters in the art of marbling, Islamic geometry and Arabic calligraphy. Her Arabic calligraphy training began in 1999 and focused on Kufic script under master Betül Bilgin which led Nurdan to achieve her Ijaza (diploma/license).

Nurdan continues to teach Kufic style calligraphy in Cambridge to students of various ages and fuses both traditional methods of Kufic calligraphy with symmetry and geometric patterns in her work to create a more contemporary style.
